All My Bags are Packed....

I'm ready to go....kind of!

I would love to know your hospital "must-haves" that you took or didn't take and wish you had when you were at the hospital to have your baby!

My bag is packed for the most part, but I would love to know what you took that you couldn't have done without!

My due date is 2 weeks from tomorrow! I am getting so incredibly excited to meet our baby boy! The doctor did tell me at my last appointment that she predicts I am going to go over my due date which made me a little sad. I know that God is in control and He already knows Tatum's birthday. So, if we wait, we wait. If you have time, let me know what I need in that hospital bag!

I'm getting so excited for y'all!! Y'all are going to have a little baby soon!!

hmmm...as far as the what to take, don't forget all stuff you want to use to capture the moments, cameras, chargers, batteries and all the gadgets that go with :) Not that that is anything unique that you might not be thinking! I can't remember anything in particular!
Oh maybe chapstick! Random, but with all the thinking about taking stuff for the baby you forget about some of the little things that you need for yourself.

If your planning on nursing, make sure you have your boppy, nursing tank/bra, breast pads, lansinoh, and cover up. Comfy pants or PJs are a must too!

We also brought a bag of our own snacks in case the hospital food wasn't good. So excited for you guys!! Can't wait to see pictures of little Tatum when he arrives!

So excited for you! Our time in the hospital was so special. I will echo Mandy & say chapstick. And definitely snacks for Michael to have while you are in labor. One thing I wish I would've done is brought smaller clothes for Mary-Meadows. I thought she was going to be a few pounds bigger & most everything I brought swallowed her up! Make sure to bring little socks for him to wear. I also liked having a robe. BUT, I didn't realize that I would not be able to put it on right after I delivered because of the IV in my arm. Just something to think about. It turned out ok for me because I delivered at 2 in the morning, so by the time I had visitors other than family, I was able to put on the robe. Also, savor those ice chips they give you - after 12 hours of being at the hospital, all I wanted was a big glass of water!!! Oh, and a few things you can do now (this is for after you come home) are buy panty liners, and freeze 2 ziplock bags filled with karo syrup to use for when your milk comes in because it makes you really sore. Make sure to double bag them. They are nice to lay on when you take a nap. Hope that helps.

These are the things my sister shared with another friend of mine:

For you:
Nursing bra
nursing shirt if you are more comfortable with that than a normal tee
toiletries including shower stuff
chapstick--seems your lips really dry out
heating pad
ibuprofren (its cheaper to take your own rather than the hospitals) NOT acetaminophine sp??
after delivery pajamas or loungewear--you will look like you are 5-7 months pregnant still
underwear that you don't mind if they get dirty
going home outfit
camera, batteries etc.
baby book for them to put footprints in and for visitors to sign
own pillow....use a pillowcase that isn't white so it won't get lost in the hospital
socks and/or slippers
flipflops if you don't like barefeet in public shower places
cards, dvd, computer for you and hubby while you are there if you want entertainment
anything you want during the labor: music/focal point etc.

For baby:
a few pajamas
baby hat
socks (for hands/feet or the mitten things for the hands)
pacifier-hospital charges big for these cheap items
car seat
baby blanket
going home outfit

Things for when you get home:
maxi pads....you will want to switch from the huge pads they give you at the hospital as soon as you can
ibuprofren
nursing pads...once your milk comes in you will be leaking

Mrs. McCracken -- Kaitlin is sitting on pins and needles waiting for Tatum to be born. Mary Edwards told us about your blog so I hope you don't mind us checking back now and again for updates. We're so excited for you!!

I'll chime in on what you might need at the hospital. You've been given a very good list.

I wanted a robe and personal toiletries (MY toiletries, not the hospital stuff). The nursing pads and Lansinoh are a must-have if nursing. I also took a book to read b/c television got so boring after a while. I'm just not a TV person. Sean also wanted snacks -- liked that suggestion. For each baby I took their baby book and made sure to get their little feet stamped. I also took a special outfit for hospital pictures.

Keep us posted and good luck!
